This letter from a former student that I re-read today, made me really happy!🤗
Dear Mrs. Lewander,
I just wanted to thank you for everything you have taught me over the years. You have given me a gift that will last me a lifetime. I believe that many of the skills used to play piano are useful not only to create music but help us throughout our lives like the calm and concentration needed to play a difficult piece can also be used to overcome a difficult situation. I would also like to thank you once again for all your support and help in completing the Arts Supplement for the universities. I think it had a significant effect on my acceptance. Most of all thank you for being one of the best teachers in music or in any subject really. I will always remember you throughout my musical studies. Yours truly, D.

Did you know that on the 88th day of the year, every year is the day of the piano! The World Piano Day, this year 2021, falls on March 29th. Why on the 88th day? Because a full-sized piano keyboard is 88 keys! ;). Why do we need a World Piano Day? Well, it’s a day to celebrate our most favorite instrument with like-minded people of course!
The World Piano Day was founded in 2015 by Nils Frahm a pianist and musician. Here’s what he said in 2015:
“Beloved planet, don´t think I am completely pathetic, but I am here to tell you about a new holiday. In less than 2 weeks we will celebrate PIANO DAY together. This year for the first time and on each 88th day of the year in the future until the sun explodes! I could not believe that nobody had this idea before me.“ N. Frahm
And why not? What a brilliant idea! 😍
So how do you celebrate World Piano Day? If you play the piano, share a piece that you’ve learned with family and friends. Dress up nicely, video record your piece, and share! If you don’t play (YET), listen to your favorite piano music, and eat a nice cake, preferably in the shape of a piano!
Maria 🤗
