Maria Lewander holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Music Education with a specialization in piano and ensemble, from Stockholm's and Lund's Universities, Sweden.
She has a long experience of teaching piano and has also worked as a pianist, organist, harpsichordist, and keyboardist.
Maria Lewander has given seminars, lectures, and workshops in piano pedagogy for piano teachers and pianists at colleges, universities, and conservatories in Sweden and Greece.
She has published several articles about piano pedagogy and attends conferences about piano pedagogy and music education all over the world regularly.
Maria Lewander is a member of ISME (International Society for Music Education) and is one of the founding members of the Greek Society for Music Education GSME (EEME), where she has served as a chair and member of the Committee for Piano Pedagogy.
She has led choirs, instrumental ensembles, taught high school general music and music theory preparation for music high schools.
